Exclusive: Sir Elton and David Furnish welcome a second son

January 15, 2013

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become parents for the second time, HELLO! can exclusively reveal. The delighted couple welcomed Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John at 6.40 pm on Friday, January 11, 2013. The 8lb 4oz baby boy - a much-wanted brother for Elton and David’s beloved two-year-old son Zachary – was born in Los Angeles via a surrogate.

Speaking exclusively to HELLO! the couple confirmed the news: "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable. The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."

Sir Elton, 65, who wed David, 50, in 2005 after 12 years together, spoke last summer about their desire to extend their family. "I think it’s difficult to be an only child and to be an only child of someone famous," the singer said. "I want Zachary to have a sibling." Zachary was born to the couple in December 2010.
