It has been one year since the world lost one of its true musical legends, Whitney Houston. And on Monday, another superstar songstress Mariah Carey took to Twitter to lead tributes to Whitney, exactly 12 months after her tragic passing. "It's 2/11…remembering my friend the incredible Whitney Houston," the We Belong Together star wrote. "It's been a year & still so hard to believe. Her legend lives on eternally."
The two women, who both enjoyed meteoric rises in the 90s, famously collaborated on the 1998 hit When You Believe, and went on to become firm friends. Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger also took time to remember the late artist. She posted a vintage picture of Whitney alongside a photograph of herself channeling the award-winning singer. "Today marks the day, it's been a year" she wrote. "I will always love you Whitney."
Close family friend Tyler Perry left a simple yet poignant tribute on his page that read, "Whitney. Still praying. "There was also a heartfelt message posted by record producer Ray J, who was in a relationship with Whitney at the time of her death."1 year ago I lost my heart," he wrote. "I would give anything just to see you smile again. I love you so much and I miss you even more today. RIP - Nippy."
The star was also being remembered across the pond."1 year ago today we lost you…RIP Whitney. You are missed," wrote Alexandra Burke, who later posted, "Had to go and see the Bodyguard tonight… Such a tribute to Whitney and keeping her legacy alive. Her music will forever live on." Jessie J simply wrote: "'I will always love you' R.I.P"
