Lady Gaga cancels tour dates due to hip injury

Lady Gaga has announced that she will be cancelling all of her remaining tour dates to recover from a hip injury. The enigmatic songstress, who boasts one of the best live concerts in contemporary music, has cancelled all of the remaining dates on her US and Canada tour, including dates in New York and Washington. Originally cancelling four tour dates when diagnosed with synovitis- an inflammation of the joints- the Poker Face singer hoped to take a brief rest before continuing the remaining leg of her Born This Way Ball tour.

Promoting company Live Nation released a statement about Gaga's condition today. "Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled," said the company. "After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal." Talking about her injuries earlier in the week, Gaga said: "I am completely devastated and heartsick. I've been hiding this injury and pain from my staff for a month, praying it would heal, but after last night's performance I could not work."

"To the fans in Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton, I hope you can forgive me as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself right now. I would do anything for you. I will hopefully heal soon as possible and be at 500% again, which is what you deserve." The songstress added on Twitter: "It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I'm sorry." The artist is due to release her third album, Artpop, later on this year.
