Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon's ruling that the trial will begin early May is finally a glimmer of good news for Kim, who has been urging a date to be confirmed.The star is keen for her divorce from Kris to be granted before July, when her baby with boyfriend Kayne West is due, so the May 6 could see the situation resolved in time.
The news follows yet another twist in the Kim and Kris' divorce saga that occured on Friday, when the basketball player's divorce lawyer, Marshall Waller, dropped him as a client shortly before a court appearance. There has been an "irremediable breakdown of the attorney-client relationship, according to documents leaked to TMZ. The hearing was to determine the next course of action in the couple's high-profile divorce battle. The trial has already been delayed three times. Kim filed for divorce in October 2011 just 72 days of marriage after their lavish wedding ceremony. Kris, 27, has been demanding an annulment based on fraud.
Kim has expressed her concerns that the prolonged divorce battle iss having a negative impact on the health and wellbeing of her unborn child. Her first baby with rapper boyfriend Kanye West is due this summer. Kim's lawyer, Laura Wasser, is expected to ask for a March trial date. Laura says that Kris "cannot continue to hold the Court and [Kim] hostage through his own lack of diligence in preparing his case for trial." Brooklyn Nets player Kris has claimed that he is not ready to go to trial because of “uncooperative third parties," but Laura claims that there is no evidence to support this. Kim has just spent her first Valentine's Day with her boyfriend Kanye West, and she put a message out to her fans. "Whether you're spending the day with your friends, family or boyfriend or girlfriend, this day is all about celebrating your loved ones and letting them know how much you love them," wrote Kim, who recently returned from a holiday in Brazil with Kanye.
The couple are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child, and Kanye's ex-girlfriend, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks has predicted that Kanye will take to fatherhood with ease.
