David Beckham triumphs in Paris Saint-Germain debut as Victoria cheers him on

February 25, 2013

David Beckham made a glittering debut on Sunday with his new side Paris Saint-Germain when he helped set up a goal after coming on as a substitute. He said he was "very happy" with the team's performance and described the atmosphere as "incredible". Victoria Beckham and his David's mum Sandra braved the bitterly cold and snowy conditions to cheer on him on at the Parc des Princes stadium. An enthusiastic and larger than usual crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of their newest recruit in action and chanted "David, David" as he came on to the pitch for the final 15 minutes of the game.

The former England captain came off the bench to help set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal meaning that his new team secured a 2-0 victory. Victoria hopped on the Eurostar from London and arrived at the Gare du Nord on Sunday afternoon to support her husband. She was suitably chic and wrapped up from the cold in a full length black coat and her trademark stilettos. The fashion designer is becoming well acquainted with Paris and last week paid a half-term visit with their children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. The family celebrated Cruz's eighth birthday while in the French capital and were seen soaking up the sites including a trip to the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Eldest son Brooklyn, 13, also joined his Dad for a training session at the Paris Saint-Germain ground. Enjoying some quality mother-daughter time, Victoria and Harper were seen enjoying a girls-only shopping trip. They stayed at five-star Le Bristol hotel, which is rumoured to be David's home-from-home while he completes his five-month stint with the Parisian side. David is said to be staying in the hotel's £15,000 per night Imperial Suite. Located on the fashionable Faubourg Saint-Honore, just a stone's throw from the Elysee Palace, the suite is complete with numerous bedrooms, a dining area and sitting room, along with the master bedroom which contains its own living room, a large dressing room and panoramic views of the city.

They will no doubt enjoy plenty more visits to Paris as David completes his 5 month contract. He announced that Paris Saint-Germain would be his new team at the end of January. David also confirmed that he would not be receiving a salary for the duration of his five-month contract, but instead the six-figure salary will be donated to a Parisian children's charity. Speculation about his next move had been rife since the Beckham clan uprooted from Los Angeles, where they were based while David nursed his talent on LA Galaxy's sun-kissed turf for over five years.
