Music mogul and eternal bachelor Simon Cowell will finally tie the knot this week in a sketch for Comic Relief's Funny for Money show. The lucky bride will be played by David Walliams, and a host of celebrities will attend the "wedding of the year" including X Factor judge Louis Walsh, X Factor host Dermot O'Leary, former contestants Olly Murs and Rylan Clark and Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack.
"I never thought I would see Simon Cowell get married," said David. "It was actually very moving to see him at the altar." Dermot, who witnessed the event, said, "I never thought I'd be invited to Simon Cowell's wedding because I never thought he would have a wedding!" Caroline clearly had more confidence in the perpetual bachelor, saying "I knew the day would finally come when Simon would get married, and I'm privileged to be invited to see this happy moment." Other famous faces will play a part in Simon's special day, but have not revealed exactly what. While Dermot calls himself "more of a gate-crasher," Louis has a more substantial role. "I'm not going to give too much away about my involvement in the sketch, but I'm one of the people thinking he should marry me!" said Louis.
The Comic Relief night will play host to several sketches from the nation's favourite comedians, but Simon's wedding is the much anticipated event. "When people see what happens in it they're going to absolutely wet themselves," said Rylan. "There are so many one-liners and I think this sketch is going to be the highlight of the night. "The guests, who make up Simon's close-knit circle of celebrity friends and acquaintances, mainly come from X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, including the latter's judges Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden. Simon's former girlfriend Sinitta will also be cheering him on.
