Katy Perry parties with Kristen Stewart following her split from John Mayer

March 22, 2013

Katy Perry, 28, partied with Kristen Stewart, 22, this week following reports that she and boyfriend John Mayer have split. The Fireworks singer enjoyed a reprieve from her personal troubles as she threw a birthday party for her assistant, which Kristen and on-off beau Robert Pattinson, 26, also attended.

The Twilight actors have themselves reconciled after several months apart. But any relationship drama was put to one side as the famous trio let their hair down at the celebration in Santa Barbara's Wildcat Lounge. A video of the bash was posted on YouTube and shows Katy bringing a birthday cake into the room as the group join in a chorus of Happy Birthday. Robert Pattinson has long been a friend of Katy Perry, and his girlfriend Kristen has also bonded with the singer. When Katy turned 28 in October, she threw a fancy dress party at The Magic Castle and Kristen was among the guests there.

Being surrounded by friends is doubtless Katy's priority right now. According to multiple sources, she and John Mayer parted ways earlier this week after dating for seven months. The pair gave their love a second chance after briefly splitting in August, less than a year after Katy and Russell Brand divorced. A close source to the couple told US Weekly that their split "is sad," but suggested they could reconcile one more time. "It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out", the source said. Another friend added: "She's leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work." Katy has been busy recording her third studio album while John is preparing for his tour which begins in New York next month and wraps up in Brasil later this year.
