Peter Andre sets up charity in memory of his beloved brother

Peter Andre has launched a new charity in memory of his beloved brother. The Peter Andre Foundation will work in partnership with Cancer Research to raise funds for a Cancer Awareness Roadshow which will travel across the country. Peter Andre said: "Unfortunately I know how devastating cancer can be. I lost my brother Andrew to cancer last year and to see someone you love go through this awful disease is just heartbreaking."

"One in three of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives. But diagnosing and treating cancer at an earlier stage is one of the most promising areas that could improve cancer survival in the UK." "So I've set up the Peter Andre Foundation to spread the word that people need to know and understand their own bodies. I want to encourage people to go their doctors and get checked if they see or feel anything that's unusual for them. Thousands of people beat cancer every year and I want to do everything I can to help Cancer Research UK save more lives in the future." Speaking about the charity to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Peter revealed that it is hard make something positive out of the disease. "Today is all about a positive angle on this... when a tragedy happens in your family, you get angry at the disease, you turn your back on it, you don't want to know about it..." "Eventually you turn around and say 'hang on a second, we've got to do something' because there are many families that are going through this now." Peter hopes to raise £500,000 to beat the disease, which will fund two tour buses to travel around England.

"We can fund these two buses that go around the country and for people like me - stubborn people who don't go and get checked up - if you see a bus and you're in your lunch break and you know there's cancer nurses on board, you know there's a private room, no appointments, you can just walk on and if you've got the slightest thing bothering you, you can go and get checked up." "If you detect it early, chances are you're going to be fine.... We're launching in the next couple of weeks, but we're ready to go."
