Jessica Simpson hosted a star-studded baby shower on Sunday afternoon in LA to celebrate the impending arrival of her second child. The TV star invited friends and family — including sister Ashlee Simpson, close friend Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren and their four-year-old daughter Honor — to the vintage-themed occasion which was held at the plush Hotel Bel-Air. Cash Warren, who recently returned from a relaxing holiday in St Barts with Jessica Alba, tweeted an Instagram picture from the party, showing guests dressing up with comedy moustaches.
Fashion Star mentor Jessica, along with adorable 11-month-old daughter Maxwell and husband Eric Johnson, welcomed her guests to the kitsch party. Decorations came in the form of retro tables, tin cups and a wooden boat. The mum-to-be, whose baby is due in the summer, wore a vibrant blue Diane von Furstenberg dress and nude Brian Atwood heels. The 32-year-old star was beaming as she welcomed her nearest and dearest to the bash while balancing Maxwell on her hip. During the al fresco party, which was organised by party planner Mindy Weiss and Jessica's mum Tina, guests ate comfort food classics including mini burgers, corn on the cobs and pigs in blankets. Thousand Island dressing, Jessica's alleged current craving, was free-flowing. Generous guests had showered the parents-to-be with gifts for their newborn as well as presents for toddler Maxwell. Jessica and Eric have been engaged since November 2010. Their new arrival will be a sibling to their daughter Maxwell who was born in May 2012.
After weeks of rumours, the Newlyweds star announced her second pregnancy on Christmas morning while on holiday in Hawaii, posting a photo of Maxwell playing outside with the words "Big Sis" written in the sand. Although Jessica hasn't revealed an exact due date, a summer baby looks likely which means that the new arrival will coincide with first time mums Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian who are both due to give birth in July.
