Elizabeth Hurley and Kate Hudson made a glamorous team as they joined forces to raise awareness of breast cancer this week. Both women showcased very different styles as they attended the Hot Pink Party in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel. Elizabeth, who is Estée Lauder's breast cancer ambassador, championed the theme of the night in a glittering floor-length pink gown.
Kate, wed to Muse rocker Matt Bellamy, contrasted in a dramatic black column with full length sleeves and a thigh-high split. She later joined her husband inside. Where both women were in agreement, though, was which accessories worked best. Both finished off their outfits with dazzling diamond drop earrings. A host of celebrities attended the Breast Cancer Research Foundation gala, with designer Vera Wang and singer Sir Elton John turning out to support the cause. The Rocket Man, fetching in a pink shirt, posed with Elizabeth and Kate inside.
Beauty heiress Aerin Lauder, who is Estée Lauder's granddaughter and is seen below, was also on the pink carpet. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation was set up by the cosmetics company 14 years ago, and the heiress passionately supports the cause. She and Elizabeth Hurley work closely together at events. The British actress – who is engaged to Australian sportsman Shane Warne and is mum to Damian, 11– has been an avid champion of the cause after being personally touched by breast cancer. The star has talked about her experiences at past fundraisers. "My grandmother had breast cancer, as have a number of my friends," she said. "This is a disease that touches everyone.
"We all know someone – a grandmother, friend, mother, aunt, sister, cousin, co-worker – who has battled breast cancer. "Now, more than ever, it's important to get that message out. Survival rates are rising and each year we get closer and closer to a cure for this disease."
