Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries's high-profile divorce could be settled quicker than expected. The former couple might come to an agreement on Friday, according to reports. The estranged husband and wife have both been summoned to appear in court for a settlement meeting. Such compulsory meetings are held to try to prevent divorce cases going to court. Kris failed to turn up to the same meeting last week.

The former couple are at loggerheads over the terms of their divorce, which Kim famously announced she was filing for after 72 days of marriage. He is seeking an annulment of their marriage, claiming it was based on fraud. His previous lawyer reportedly quit because he did not think there was enough evidence to back the claim.

But Kim, who is expecting rapper Kanye West's baby in July, wants a judge to enter a divorce judgment instead and has denied accusations that she married Kris for the sake of her reality show. Kris's lawyers reportedly plan to force Kim to admit that some scenes from her Keeping Up With The Kardashians show were staged to make him look bad during the trial. If Kris were to be successful and their marriage is annulled, their pre-nuptial agreement would no longer legitimate, giving Kris free rein to spill the beans on their relationship. But sources close to the Brooklyn Nets basketball star say that his position is weakening for a number of reasons. Firstly, their prenuptial agreement states that Kris won't get a cent from Kim should their divorce go to trial. Secondly, by going to trial he is likely to rack up substantial lawyers' fees.

Producers and television executives are listed among the witnesses for the pair's trial in order to examine Kris's claims that Kim defrauded. Producer Jay Russell has admitted that at least two scenes were "scripted, reshot or edited" to portray the basketball star in a negative light. One particular scene that will be subject to analysis is when Kim tells her manager and mum Kris Jenner that she wanted a divorce while on a trip to Dubai. It was later revealed that the scene was shot in an LA studio after Kim had filed for divorce. Members of the Humphries family have openly slammed his short-lived marriage to the fashion designer as a "sham".Kris and Kim tied the knot at a lavish, star-studded ceremony in 2011. Should the former couple not settle the case on Friday, their divorce trial will take place on 6 May.
