Sharon Osbourne has spoken about the recent admission by her husband Ozzy that he is again battling drug and alcohol addiction.Speaking on US show The Talk Sharon said: "He said he's been using alcohol and prescription drugs for the last year and a half."
She was referring to recent comments Ozzy posted on his Facebook page, in which he said: "For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place," the Black Sabbath frontman wrote.
He added: "I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my bandmates for my insane behavior during this period, and my fans. "Said Sharon on the chatshow: "He's been an a*****e and he's been in a very dark place. That's true. That's very true."
Although Sharon has long been aware of her husband's addictive nature, the mother of three said she was shocked by Ozzy's confession. "I never knew he was using prescription drugs," she said. "I knew he was drinking occasionally, but I didn't realise the extent. "Sharon also denied recent rumours that the couple are splitting up. "We're not getting divorced," she said. "However, am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes I am. I'm devastated right now." Sharon also spoke generally about addiction, acknowledging that it has put a strain on both her marriage and her family as her children have become involved with Ozzy's recovery process. "It's a disease that not only hurts the person that has the disease but it hurts the family. It hurts people who love you," she said. "We're dealing with it. We've dealt with worse. We're dealing with it and this too shall pass. "It's been a stressful time for Sharon of late, with two of her children involved in health scares. Jack was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in June last year, just three weeks after his daughter Pearl was born. His sister Kelly was hospitalised in March after having a seizure. While the family are said to be pulling together to help Ozzy, Sharon jokingly said that if her husband refused to comply, then: "My husband will [have to] be taken to hospital to get my foot removed from his a**."
