Sharon Osbourne to testify at Michael Jackson trial

May 2, 2013

Sharon Osbourne will testify in the wrongful death lawsuit being brought by Michael Jackson's family. The late performer's relatives are currently suing Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) for $40billion (£25.8billion) after the concert promoters hired Dr. Murray, the man convicted of causing the singer's death, to prepare him for a series of comeback concerts in London.

Sharon, 60, has now been called as a witness and will confirm the concert promoters prioritised ticket sales over the late King of Pop's ailing health. "Somebody asks you to come to court, you are subpoenaed and you do your duty," she said. The Osbourne matriarch, whose husband Ozzy recently admitted he still struggles with substance abuse, discussed the issue last month before being officially subpoenaed. "There were certain people that worked at that company AEG Live that knew that Michael Jackson was not well and didn't care because it was business," she said. "Whether he performed or he didn't, they would still make money, and I've had conversations with certain people at that company who have said exactly that to me.

"If they would like me to go to court, the Jackson family, I will stand up and tell you who said that to me." When Michael Jackson died in 2009, his mother Katherine (pictured above) was awarded permanent custody of the performer's children Prince, 16, Paris, 15, and Blanket, who is 11. In November 2011, she watched as a Los Angeles court convicted Dr. Conrad Murray for causing Michael's death by administering a lethal dose of the anaesthetic propofol. The family are claiming the $40billion sum for the loss of projected earnings.
