Rob Kardashian 'charged with battery and petty theft' after a scuffle with photographer

May 8, 2013

It's usually his sisters making the headlines, and unfortunately for Rob Kardashian he is in the spotlight this week for all the wrong reasons. According to TMZ, the reality TV star has been charged with one count of battery and one count of petty theft — both misdemeanors — following a run-in with a member of the paparazzi in March.

Rob, 26, is alleged to have attacked Andra Viak and stolen her camera equipments at a gym in West Hollywood. She was reportedly taking a picture of his shirtless, when he allegedly grabbed her camera and took the memory card.

According to the website, Rob says he lashed out because the photographer had trespassed onto private property to take the pictures. At the time, Ms Viak filed a robbery report with police, and subsequently sued the star for robbery and assault. She told law enforcement officials that Rob, who is in the middle of a weight loss programme, had taken her memory card in an effort to stop the shirtless images being released.

Sock designer Rob, who previously dated British pop star Rita Ora, recently opened up about his new diet and exercise regime, telling US Weekly he is starting to see results after vowing to get into shape several weeks ago. "I lost five to seven pounds last week. I'm trying to lose 40," he said. "It's a little journey, but it's good. I'm like 240 lbs right now, probably 235 lbs."
