'The One Show' presenter Alex Jones says Bruce Willis 'bombed' during interview

May 16, 2013

The One Show presenter Alex Jones has admitted that Bruce Willis ‘bombed’ during his interview on the BBC programme in February. Speaking to Alex and co-host Matt Baker about his latest film A Good Day To Die Hard, Hollywood’s favourite action hero Bruce came across cold and distant, to the disappointment of his British fans. However, Alex insists that the man himself was far more endearing than the TV spot suggested.

"He was a lot friendlier and warmer than he came across," she said. "He had a very dry sense of humour, which just didn't translate, and he wasn't 100% sure about the film he was promoting. "He really wanted to create a good impression. He kept asking, 'How's this going?' and I had to say, 'Not great, to be honest'." Aware that his interview portrayed him in an unfavourable light, Bruce issued an official apology to his fans. "I have to apologise," he said in an interview with Jon Holmes on Xfm radio. "I didn't get very many compliments about it. They said it was a little stale. But I was so jetlagged. I'm very sorry, you kids on The One Show. "I'm sure it's not their [the presenting team's] problem. I was a little bit boring, I think," Bruce added.

Although the desultory interview was given the thumbs down, Alex admitted that the show has suffered far worse interviewees. "David Cassidy was a nightmare," she revealed. "He wouldn't shut up and we had to wrap up with him in the middle of an anecdote. "Later on, we had these alpacas on and one of them nipped him on the ear, and I just thought, 'Serves you right'." She added, "Pamela Anderson was a bit of a diva. She directed all her answers to the monitor on the floor so she could see what she looked like." The One Show is a staple topical programme in the BBC's listings. Now celebrating its seventh year on air, the show is guaranteed to remain on UK TV screens until 2016. Juggling a hectic schedule, Bruce, 58, is currently filming Sin City sequel Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, as well as action hero sequel The Expendables 3.
