One Direction have played sell-out shows across the continent, trained with Real Madrid in the Spanish capital, and romanced in Verona — but now it's time for the boys to bid goodbye to the European leg of their Take Me Home tour. The boy band are now taking a well-deserved break after touring sixteen countries since February, where they played to hordes of One Direction fans in sold-out venues. While Harry Styles admitted that he "just slept for a long time," upon his return, Niall Horan offered a more wordy account of his experiences and plans for his two week rest stop.

"European tour is over :( honestly sad about it, got to see so many places! played amazing shows, had a great laugh, ate some great food :)," wrote the Irish star on Twitter. "It was just an all round great tour! Thank you so much to every single one of you who came to watch! Only for you we wouldn't be doing this." "So now! Time off! Friends and family time! chilling out! And just spending the time I missed out on with them now! "Bandmate Liam Payne added: Thank you Europe ! I love you allll :)". However, Zayn Malik is spending his sojourn Twitter-free. The star has decided to take a break from the social networking site after he received some unsavoury tweets from his followers. Mum Trisha Malik leapt to her son's defence after one fan said that "One Direction would be so much better without Zayn." "Hope you're happy now that Zayn noticed your tweet!" said Trisha. "You can't even imagine how upset it made him." The boys have a matter of days to recuperate before they begin their continental travels on 8 June.

The Kiss You singers will begin their tour in Mexico City, spanning Canada and America during the summer months. They will then travel across Australia and New Zealand, and will end their tour in Japan on 3 November. Harry and the boys will be as busy as ever in 2014. The band's third tour, Where We Are, will begin in May, taking them to venues across the UK. The fivesome will also enter the music history book records when they perform two landmark slots at the Wembley Stadium.
