It's been two weeks since Paul Hollywood confirmed his split from Alexandra, his wife of 15 years. At the time it was speculated that the Great British Bake-Off star had become close to his American co-star Marcela Valladolid, and as a result Paul became the subject of intense media attention. He appeared to have put his personal troubles behind him at the weekend though — and even made a light-hearted reference to his highly-publicised separation.
Paul, 46, hosted a cookery demonstration at the BBC Good Food Show alongside former Great British Bake-Off contestant Cathryn Dresser on Saturday, and was in high-spirits during the session.Smiling and joking as Cathryn, 27, made bread, the star made a small quip about his recent problems, telling the audience, "This is the kind of bread that will get you recognised. I should know, I've had a lot of publicity recently," before giving a cheeky wink.Members of the 400-strong crowd at Birmingham's NEC also said the star seemed delighted to be working alongside pretty brunette Cathryn. "He was being really flirty with her," onlookers Samira Ajour told the Mirror. "He kept touching her shoulder and placing his hands on hers. I don't think there was anything in it, he's just a bit of a smoothie."
Last week, Paul's wife Alexandra, 49, reportedly asked him to leave their family home in Kent after he was romantically linked to his American Baking Competition co-host Marcela, 34. Alexandra has filled for divorce citing adultery as the reason for their marital breakdown. She has now spoken out about the struggles of becoming a single mother to the couple's son Josh, 11."I've lived in a bubble all these years," she tweeted. "I had no idea of the strength you need to go it alone. Single mothers, I salute you!"
