Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby daughter, born about five weeks early, is a tiny bundle of joy. Their newborn, named North West, weighed just 4 lb 15 oz at birth, according to Us Weekly. "She's tiny and perfect," a source said. "She looks just like Kim -- with her dark hair and some of her features."
Although it may be too early to tell, their little one might be following in her pint-sized mum's footsteps — Kim is just 5'2" tall.
Their new arrival is the icing on the cake for the overjoyed couple who have become one of hottest celebrity pairings thanks to a series of high-octane appearances since they began dating a year ago.
Unlike her sister Kourtney, who shared the birth of her two children Mason, four, and Penelope, ten months, on their show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim brought her daughter into the world without the presence of cameras. In a recent magazine interview, the LA socialite explained that her attitude to privacy had changed because of Kanye.
She said she'd become "more of a recluse" while expecting as a way of "preparing to respect the privacy of my child and my boyfriend". In a Mothers' Day blog Kim also admitted to being "nervous and anxious" about the challenges ahead, but added, "I'm also excited knowing that I learned from the very best."
By the very best she meant her mother and manager Kris Jenner, who has six children and four stepchildren from two marriages. Kanye West looks set to make his first appearance since becoming a father this week. The rapper — whose girlfriend Kim Kardashian welcomed their daughter North on 15 May — is expected to attend True Magazine's birthday party on 27 June.
It's thought that Kanye will join friend and fellow dad Jay-Z at the LA party to celebrate the hip hop publication's 14th year anniversary at Hollywood hotspot Couture. It will be the first time that either Kanye, 36, or Kim, 32, have been seen since the premature arrival of their baby girl.
Reality star Kim has remained uncharacteristically quiet since welcoming her firstborn nine days ago. News of the birth was confirmed by Kim's sister Khloe and mother Kris, but so far there has been no official comment from Kim or Kanye — despite the name of their daughter North being leaked last week.
