Sarah Jessica Parker and Uma Thurman were among the A-list guests to attend the glittering premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in London on Tuesday night. The Sex And The City star matched the golden ticket theme, wearing a black and gold sequined dress, and showed she was just as glamorous as her former on-screen character Carrie Bradshaw.
Making the outing to see the children's musical a family affair, Sarah arrived with her husband Matthew Broderick on her arm and their son James following. Sarah looked very excited to see the musical, smiling at the cameras, waving at fans and greeting fellow Hollywood celebrities and Oscar-winning director of the show, Sam Mendes. Uma looked chic in a black cape and trousers combination, and like Sarah smouldered in dark eye make-up.
Glee actor Matthew Morrison arrived with his girlfriend Renee Puente and high-fived screaming fans as he walked up the carpet.
"British ladies are kind of crazy," he said, stopping to chat to HELLO! Online. "I think the story has this sense of adventure, this sense of the unknown that makes it," he said, talking about the original plot. "It's almost like a treasure hunt, finding something and going on this great adventure."
Roald Dahl's daughters Lucy and Ophelia also attended the opening night and couldn't wait to see their father's book adapted on stage. "I'm very thrilled about tonight," said Ophelia, speaking to HELLO! Online. "It's been a long journey as these things necessarily are. If you're going to wait for the best choreographers and the best directors you have to sometimes bide your time. We did and it was worth the wait. "The story has all the qualities. It's got everything we love about people, everything we can't stand about people. It's got the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. And well, it's got chocolate. You can't go wrong with chocolate. My dad loved chocolate and our house was filled with it.
"I think anyone who can see something they've created then adapted well, under very different circumstances, would be happy. I think my dad would be happy with tonight." Former EastEnders actress Barbara Windsor also attended, turning heads as she arrived in a bright blue suit. She stopped to chat to fellow guests, and shared a laugh with Sarah and Uma on the steps of the theatre before they walked in for the show.
