Kris Jenner has revealed the meaning behind her granddaughter North's name. During an interview with Jimmy Fallon, the 57-year-old insisted she likes the unusual moniker, and explained why daughter Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had chosen it. "Kim and Kanye said North is the highest power, so naming (her) North is the highest point between the two of them," she said.

The Kardashian matriarch also spoke about her family's recent gathering at their Malibu beach house to celebrate the 4th July. "We took everybody out there," she revealed. "(North) probably showed up, she's so quiet you'd never know!"The interview came shortly after Kris revealed that Kim and Kanye's decision to name their daughter North was a joint one. Many had thought that rapper Kanye was behind the moniker. "That's what I think. I think that they did it together, for sure," she told HuffPost Live. She also joked about the fact that her new granddaughter doesn't have a name beginning with the letter K — in keeping with the family tradition.

"I stayed out of that one," she said. "I did the same thing with Kourtney, when she named Mason and Penelope. I though, 'You know what? No-one gave me any advice on baby names. "And a lot of people won't give their baby name because they don't want anybody to have any negative energy. Like, if you say, 'I'm going to name my baby Kourtney with a K', I didn't want anybody to say, 'No you're not', or 'That's horrible'."You just want to do your thing and then once that baby's named you think, 'That is so official — no-one is ever going back on that. "Kris went on to say that she thinks Kim and Kanye's baby, who was born prematurely on 15th June, really suits her name. "When a baby's born and you give it a name and you're really sure about it, that's just going to be that baby's energy. So I'm excited," she said.

Earlier this week, Kris was asked when the world would get its first glimpse of the new addition. But she coyly refused to confirm if a decision had been made.

"I think you're just going to have to wait and see and tune, because I am not sure if that is going to happen," said Kris, when asked by her host Matt Lauer if North would appear on her grandmother's new talk show, Kris, scheduled to premiere in mid-July.Matt pressed Kris further on the matter, saying, "Tell me right now it will not happen, you will not be showing first-time baby photos the first week of your show.""I won't tell you it won’t happen," she said, holding her ground. "Give you a little something to think about. You never know who is going to show up."
