Talk-show idol, Oprah Winfrey, has confirmed reports that she will be the first to interview Lindsay Lohan after her 90-day stay in rehab.

"OWN will air an exclusive interview with Oprah and Lindsay Lohan that will tape and air in August and an eight-part documentary series with Lindsay for 2014," confirmed a spokeswoman from the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The eight-part series will document the actress' efforts to remain healthy and her comeback following her three-month rehab stay.

The Liz & Dick actress was sentenced to serve 90 days in a treatment facility earlier this year as part of the conditions of her plea deal from misdemeanor charges related to a car accident in June 2012.

Although Lindsay is scheduled to leave the Cliffside Malibu rehab centre at the end of July, the former Disney star has been urged to extend her rehab stay, as she has been 'responding very, very well to treatment,' an insider revealed.

"She is in a really good place right now, but her doctors want that to continue," they continued.

Oprah's interview with the child-star follows a number of celebrity interviews OWN has aired over the past few years, including Lance Armstrong's doping admission and Rihanna's discussion about her relationship with Chris Brown.

Lindsay is reported to make her first post-rehab debut at the premiere of her new film, The Canyons, which will take place during the Venice Film Festival in August. The thriller, directed by Paul Schrader, shows the Parent Trap star playing a naïve and young actress, seduced by Los Angeles.

The Freaky Friday star has recently appeared on Charlie Sheen's new comedy, Anger Management, and musical drama Glee.

The 27-year-old has been sentenced to several jail and rehab stays since 2007. In 2011, she was sentenced to 30-days in a Los Angeles County jail but served less than five hours in the prison due to overcrowding.
