Black Eyed Peas singer, Fergie, is asking the court to legally change her first and last names before the birth of her baby.
The Big Girls Don't Cry star, born Stacy Ann Ferguson, wants to change her name to Fergie Duhamel, according to TMZ.
The 38-year-old singer has been married to Transformers actor Josh Duhamel since 2009. The couple announced in February that they were expecting their first child together this autumn, but are yet to confirm a due date.Fergie's lawyer claims that the pop-star has wanted to change her name for several years so that she can "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years. "The next court hearing is scheduled for 16th August.
Fergie met with her mother, Theresa Ann Ferguson, in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday to discuss the name change.The expectant songstress recently spoke to Life & Style magazine about how pregnancy has affected her fashion choices. "I haven't gone to maternity wear yet," the fashion icon revealed. "I'll always have a little rock 'n' roll influence," she continued.
Fergie, who became a solo artist in 2006 with her debut solo album, The Dutchess, found fame when singer-producer Will.i.am asked her to audition for The Black Eyed Peas’ 2003 album Elephunk.The American hip-hop group went on to sell an estimated 56 million records worldwide since 2003.Lead vocalist, Will.i.am recently spoke to French radio station, NRJ, confirming that the group will start recording their seventh studio album in 2013.
