Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton may have split earlier this month, but when Lewis dedicated his winning trophy to his ex-girlfriend of five years on Sunday, speculation that the couple may be heading for a reunion ran wild.
"I feel like, the thought on my mind through the entire race was of someone really special to me," said Lewis, speaking in an interview with Sky Sports.
"And I want to dedicate it to her. "When asked whether the Formula One world champion was referring to Nicole, 35, Lewis smiled and confirmed the question.
The racing champion was certainly in high spirits as he celebrated his victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but Lewis has previously revealed that his world had been "turned upside down" after splitting from the sensational singer.Lewis and Nicole were believed to be discussing marriage just before their break-up, but reportedly went their separate ways because of conflicting work schedules that made it harder to see each other regularly.This is not the first time Lewis has tried to publicly reach out to Nicole.
The racing driver has taken to Twitter to show that his ex-girlfriend is still on his mind, with the most recent tweet posted last week. "Nicole once told me how beautiful Vienna was, now I see she was right. Have training here tomorrow," tweeted Lewis, alongside a photo of the city in sunshine. "If you've found that special someone, don't EVER let them go no matter what!! Nothing in this world is more important...," posted Lewis previously.
Nicole, meanwhile, was said to be "heartbroken and completely devastated" after the break-up. She is currently in London, filming for The X Factor, and earlier this month found it hard to conceal her distress.During an audition where a hopeful X Factor contestant sang about heartbreak and the end of a relationship, Nicole said, "It pulled on my heartstrings. It sucks doesn't it? Really sucks.
"She has thanked her fans for their support during this rough time, tweeting, "From my HEART-Thanku so much to all my fans 4 sending ur words of wisdom & faith, love & inspiration right now..God Bless u, I love u xo."
