2012

Usain Bolt made sporting history when he became the first person to win both the 100m and 200m sprint races in the same Olympic games at London 2012.•

2010

Rod and Penny Lancaster Stewart proudly announced that they were expecting a second child.

The happy couple made their announcement on hellomagazine.com, after finding out Penny was pregnant while on holiday in Portofino, Italy where they were celebrating their third wedding anniversary. Aiden was born the following February, joining his five year old brother Alistair in the family; along with six other half-siblings from Rod’s previous relationships.

2008 

A special issue of HELLO! was on the newsstands as we unveiled the world exclusive first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's then three-week-old twins, Knox and Vivienne.•

1963

Music legend Whitney Houston was born 50 years ago. She was one of the world’s most successful artists, selling more than 200 million albums worldwide. She tragically passed away aged just 48 in 2012. Her death was recorded as "accidental drowning" after she was found in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

1962

Robert Zimmerman had his name legally changed to Bob Dylan. "I'd seen some poems by Dylan Thomas," he explained. "People had always called me either Robert or Bobby, but Bobby Dylan sounded too skittish to me. The first time I was asked my name in the Twin Cities, I instinctively and automatically, without thinking, simply said, 'Bob Dylan'."•

2004

Donald Duck received the 2,257th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Donald Duck has become one of the most well known of Walt Disney's characters, since being created in 1937 and to this day there have been a total of 128 Donald Duck cartoons.

1992

The closing ceremony for the 25th Olympic games was held in Barcelona, Spain. The ceremony followed a theme of "the origin of the world" with a vibrant display portraying stars, planets, demons and fantastical creatures.•

1980

Abba topped the British Singles charts with The Winner Takes it All and remained at number one for two weeks. Abba had a total of nine number one singles in the UK and had great success across Europe, after winning the Eurovision song contest in 1974.
