The stuntman who delighted the world when he parachuted into the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony dressed as James Bond has died while wing-diving in Switzerland.
Mark Sutton, 42, was killed on Wednesday after crashing into a mountain ridge in the Swiss Alps.
The former Army officer played the role of Daniel Craig's Bond in the most memorable sequence of the opening ceremony, accompanying another stuntman, Gary Connery, who was dressed as the Queen.
The two parachutists leaped from a helicopter, watched by billions across the world, to land in the Olympic stadium following a short four-minute film in which Daniel Craig appeared alongside the Queen in Buckingham Palace ."Good evening Mr Bond," the monarch had said to the actor, as the two were accompanied by Her Majesty's corgis, before they apparently boarded a helicopter to attend the Games.
Mark and fellow parachutist Gary then jumped from an identical helicopter, landing to the whoops and cheers of delighted onlookers.
The stuntman was among 20 of the world's top wing-divers invited to a three-day event where they were being filmed soaring through the air with the aid of special winged suits.
Grieving friend Gary later tweeted: "All you jumpers/flyers out there, stay safe, make wise choices and know your limits and your locations.
"Live to tell your stories. One love. "Acccording to Swiss news site The Local, Mark and a colleague jumped from a helicopter at a height of 10,800 feet and intended to land near the village of Le Peuty.
