Nigella Lawson returns to Twitter for the first time since split

August 22, 2013

Life, it seems, is returning to normal for Nigella Lawson. Following her very public spilt from husband Charles Saatchi this summer, the TV chef has been maintaining a low-profile — and that includes staying away from her Twitter account.

But this week, in a sign that things are getting back on track, Nigella made a welcome return to the social networking site to the delight of her 433,000 followers.

"Yum: settling down to The Great British Bake Off with a slice of this blackberry Victoria sponge," the 53-year-old wrote, alongside a enticing picture of the cake itself.

Her fans were quick to question whether the sponge was hers, or shop bought. "I MADE IT," she replied. "Though it wouldn't get me far in GBBO."It comes as little surprise that Nigella made no reference to the end of her 10-year marriage.

Last month, Charles and Nigella were granted a 'decree nisi' and are now waiting the required six weeks to pass before they are granted a 'decree absolute', finalising their divorce.

The couple separated shortly after photos emerged of millionaire art collector Charles, 70, with his hand around his wife's neck at a London restaurant.

He initially dismissed the incident as a "playful tiff", but later released a statement to say the marriage was over and that he was seeking a divorce.

Nigella quickly moved out of their home and has rented an apartment with her son Bruno. The brunette star is also a mum to daughter Cosmina. She welcomed both her children during her first marriage to journalist John Diamond, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1997 and tragically passed away in March 2001, aged 47.
