Martine McCutcheon thanks fans and says she is 'on top' of depression

Martine McCutcheon has thanked fans for their support, after she opened up about her battle with depression and chronic fatigue syndrome in a frank interview. "Thanks 4 all the support re my piece in The Sun today. Part 2 tomor. M.E and depression is hard but I am on top of it and u can be too! X," she wrote.The former EastEnders star, who married musician Jack McManus in a fairytale wedding ceremony in September of last year, admitted that she almost lost the love of her life when things got so bad.

"I would pray to God I wouldn't wake up," Martine told The Sun. "I would just say, 'Please, whatever this is, it is making me feel so bad, just let it kill me.'"I've had the worst seven years ever. It's just been one thing after another. I have not been in a nice place in my head, financially nor with my career. "The Love Actually star revealed that she collapsed 20 times and put on two stone over a short period of time before she was finally diagnosed with ME, or chronic fatigue syndrome.The actress became so ill that she was confined to a wheelchair and sank into depression, and revealed that she stayed at home for a month because she did not want to see anyone.Martine's blockbuster success starring in the romantic comedy next to Hugh Grant meant she was offered "amazing" roles, but the Love Actually favourite had to turn them down because of her physical state.

After becoming so ill that she could not work, Martine filed for bankruptcy under her maiden name at Kingston-Upon-Thames County Court in February. "I can't begin to express my love and gratitude for such kind and encouraging messages. I'm truly so touched. I love you guys. Thank you. Xx," she tweeted at the time.When debt collectors asked Martine to hand over her £25,000 diamond and French ruby ring, Martine said, "I burst into tears. I was devastated. "Since speaking out about her condition, the brunette beauty has tried to stay positive and opened up about her bumpy seven years in the hope that she will encourage fellow patients to not give up.
