Miley Cyrus had been thinking about ending her relationship with Liam Hemsworth for months, according to the Wrecking Ball singer.
The pop star, 20, spoke candidly about the inspiration for a heartbreaking track on her upcoming album Bangerz, and although the singer didn't mention any names, all fingers point to Liam Hemsworth.
"I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day – emotionally it was such a hard time," she told Fashion magazine. "It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. "It’s a time when you want to leave but you can't. It's also about moving on." Miley, who graces the front cover of the magazine this month, seems to be talking about ex-fiancé Liam, from whom she has recently split after months of rumours and being spotted with and without her engagement ring.
The couple finally made their break-up public last week when their spokespeople confirmed the news to PEOPLE magazine.
But the rumour mill went into overdrive when Liam was spotted partying with Mexican singer and actress Eiza Gonzalez, leading to speculation that the duo had already been split up for some time.
It seems, though, that Liam isn't the only one with new romance on the horizon. Following her return to the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday, Miley was spotted in the arms of music producer Mike WiLL Made It.
The duo have been posting pictures of themselves on social network sites. Mike WiLL Made It, 24, is the producer of Miley's new album Bangerz.
