Miley Cyrus' mum Tish has a clear message for any critics who say she should be keeping a tighter control over her pop star daughter. "Anyone that’s ever said, 'Where's her mother?' the answer is 'right beside her,'" says Tish – aka Leticia Jean. "Through good, through bad, through arguments, through crying, through I don't care what – right there."
Tish, who is also her daughter's manager, made the comments in MTV documentary Miley: The Movement which aired in the US on 2 October. It followed the Wrecking Ball singer for four months leading up to and after her controversial MTV VMAs performance.
In the hour-long film, the 20-year-old talks about her close relationship with her mother.
"My mum is my homie. If I win, she wins. Not because she's my manager - because she's my mom," she says.
"I think she keeps me, like, less anxious because I do get so overwhelmed when I'm gonna perform because everything has to be perfect.
"The singer commented finding fame young made her stand out from other children of a similar age. She said: "I've never been like a normal person because I had to grow up so quick," to which her mum added: "She kind of gave up her childhood."
