Love struck newlyweds Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger looked picture perfect as they hit the red carpet at the 10th Huading Awards in Macau, China on Monday.

The smitten stars were photographed arriving hand-in-hand for the star-studded event, dubbed the 'Chinese Oscars', where 29-year-old Avril was crowned Best Global Singer.

The songstress looked striking and elegant in a sophisticated monochrome gown with a peplum waist. Channeling old Hollywood glamour, she wore her blonde hair swept over one shoulder in tumbling curls, and accentuated her eyes with heavy smokey makeup.

She completed her look with black earrings, matching nail varnish and a simple silver necklace and bracelet.

Her most treasured accessory, however, was the new wedding band adorning her finger.

Avril and Niceklback frontman Chad, 38, tied the knot on 1 July in front of 100 guests at the Chateau de la Napoule medieval cantle near Cannes.

Sharing their special day exclusively with HELLO!, the happy couple described their gothic-themed nuptials as "unforgettable".

"I had goosebumps from head to toe and my eyes filled with tears. It's a moment I will never forget as long as I live," said Chad of the moment he first saw his bride, clad in a black Monique Lhuillier gown. His new wife added, "My body was overtaken by emotion. I saw him and he was so calm and happy. He had a tear coming down and he wiped it away. I felt so good walking to him. It made me feel like a complete woman."

Explaining the wedding's dark, gothic theme, Avril told HELLO!: "I wanted it to be over the top. I'm obsessed with castles and I love French décor and Goth. I found this castle and it was perfect. I also wanted to make sure it was a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests.

"Avril is riding high at the moment — not only is she a blissfully happy newlywed, she has a new self-titled album out on 5 November, and is even turning her thoughts to starting a family. "I do (feel pressure to start a family) now that I'm married," she said on an interview on The Lowdown.

But, she adds, "I want to be ready. I'm focusing on my music. I'm just releasing a new record. This is my priority and my baby right now. "Other big names attending the Huading Awards on Monday included Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Quentin Tarantino and Sam Worthington.
