Miley Cyrus has opened up about her high-profile split from fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
Sitting down with chat show Ellen DeGeneres, the 20-year-old said that she was focusing on the next chapter of her life — and even joked about refunding Ellen for the engagement celebration she threw.
The two ladies touched on a number of subjects during the interview — from Miley's controversial twerking at the VMAs to her huge success with her new album Bangerz.
But it was the end of Miley's relationship with Hunger Games actor Liam that proved most telling. "So, the last time you were here I threw you an engagement party," Ellen commented. Quick as a flash, and with a smile, Miley retorted, "Do you want your money back?!"
"I want my money back," Ellen joked. "I sent you like strippers. You enjoyed it!"
The Wrecking Ballsinger laughed and replied, "I should have kept one of those dudes' numbers. That would have come in handy now!"
Former Hannah Montana star Miley was then asked if the attention over her split with Liam was awkward. "It's not really as awkward because I'm living it," she replied.
"So I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I do.
"I just believe than when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now; I feel like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."
The Tennessee native continued, "I've been kind of impressed with people and how much they've actually shown more respect.
"I don't really look up anything, so maybe they haven't been showing respect, but from what I have seen, I felt like people have really focused on my music right now when I've needed them and have actually been really good about that. Because that's the only thing I worried about — I didn't want it to make me to sacrifice what I've been working for, for just the attention to be on that."
