Catherine and her husband of 13-years are reportedly living under the same roof again after being apart for six months, and Michael recently told chat host Jay Leno that he was "very hopeful" that their relationship is "on the up and up".

In the new GQ, the Oscar-winner conceded that it had been "a tough couple of years". As well as his marital problems, he has battled cancer and had to deal with his son Cameron going to jail.

He said that his Emmy win for Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra had given him a boost, however, and had been "the candle on the cake".

Michael has previously said that his separation doesn't mean that things are over.

"Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end," he said.

"I'm very hopeful.

"So too are fans of the couple. Michael wore his wedding ring during the interview, and last month Catherine, 44, was pictured with her band in place, suggesting a permanent reconciliation seems likely.

The Hollywood couple are proud parents to two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, ten, who – according to their father are "doing great" despite the separation.
