Barely six months after giving birth to her second child, Coleen Rooney is hoping to add to her team’s line-up, she revealed to HELLO!.“I’d probably like another one – not too soon though,” says Coleen, who has sons Kai, four, and baby Klay with her husband, Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney.“I think a girl would complete the family but because the boys get on so well, another boy would be just as nice. But at the moment life’s good. It’s busy but I’m enjoying it.”
The 27-year-old fashion designer is known for scoring high in the style stakes, something she acknowledges is more difficult now that she has two young children. “When you become a mum the first time round it makes you realise you don’t get much time for yourself. But second time round it’s even harder,” says Coleen, who is wearing a dress from her Littlewoods range in this photo (above).“Kai goes to pre-school four days a week, which is good because I get to spend time with Klay and he’s quite easy. He’s laid-back and happy so I can take him places and he’s fine.”Coleen certainly knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a top-notch mum, which is why she’s thrilled to have signed up as ambassador for the Tesco Mum of the Year awards.
The awards, which will be presented in a glitzy ceremony at London’s Savoy hotel in March and televised on Channel 5 on Mother’s Day, reward women who have helped others. The judging panel includes celebrity mums DJ Sara Cox, TV presenter Gaby Logan and Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis.
Coleen says they are looking for “someone amazing who deserves the prize of the makeover and photoshoot and to go to a red-carpet event.""I know first-hand that mums should get the recognition they deserve because they work so hard," she adds. "The stories that some of the mums have come forward with are so emotional.”
Wayne and Coleen pictured last yearWhen it came to picking up tips on being a good mum, Liverpool lass Coleen, who lives with England striker husband Wayne and their boys in Cheshire, didn’t have to look too far.“I’ve picked up a lot from my own mum,” she says. “She spent time with us, made sure we knew right from wrong.”Despite his genes, Kai isn’t showing any signs of wanting to follow in his footballer dad’s footsteps just yet. “He’s really into his musicals. He loves singing and dancing,” says Coleen. “Now and again, if Kai asks for a kickabout, Wayne will take him out – but then I think Wayne’s quite happy not to because he plays football day in, day out. I think he’d rather play something else!”
