One Direction star Niall Horan is struggling to return home to Ireland in time for Christmas as strong winds and heavy rain sweep across the UK. The 20-year-old took to Twitter this week to share his frustration after being stranded in London, writing, “Looks like we ain’t going home for Xmas!"
Niall’s friend Willie Devine then tweeted, “Wanted: two spaces at a Christmas dinner table this side of the Irish Sea for myself and @NiallOfficial.”
The singer had been in London over the weekend, staying in the capital to watch JLS’ final concert at the O2 with girlfriend Barbara Palvin. He was due to spend Christmas with his family in his home town of Mullingar. Despite his predicament, Niall soon started to feel more positive about the situation. “Looks like we’ll just put the heating back on! Go food shopping!” he wrote.
Unsurprisingly One Direction fans responded in their droves, offering the pair a place to spend Christmas day. “Always welcome at mine, a ton of food here, lots of drink and ace decorations,” one girl tweeted. The term “#getniallhomeforchristmas,” then started trending on social networking sites. Niall’s mum Maura Gallagher has said that Christmas is always a “big deal” for the family and revealed that she cooks traditional “turkey, ham and all the veg” for her famous son and his older brother Greg.
