Things are looking up for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas who rang in the New Year together on a family ski trip. Hollywood actor Michael shared two photos of his winter getaway with Welsh beauty Catherine and their two children Dylan, 13, and ten-year-old Carys. The first snap showed the family of four posing on the piste with their ski poles held high in the air.
"Happy New Year from Quebec, Canada... where it is minus 10F," read the caption accompanying the photo on his Facebook page.
Behind The Candelabra star Michael then posted a second photo of himself with his two children against a stunning snowy backdrop. Many of Michael's fans commented on the family snaps and expressed their delight at the family reunion as well as wishing the foursome best wishes for the New Year.
Michael, 69, and Catherine, 44, announced their trial separation in August after 13 years of marriage. Since then various reports have emerged saying that the pair have attempted to reconcile. "I hope to resolve my marriage in a positive fashion," he told GQ Magazine in November. In the same interview, the Oscar-winner conceded that it had been "a tough couple of years". As well as his marital problems, he has battled cancer and had to deal with his son Cameron going to jail.
Shortly before that interview Michael told chat host Jay Leno that he was "very hopeful" that their relationship was "on the up and up"."Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end," he said. "I'm very hopeful. "So too are fans of the couple. Michael wore his wedding ring during the interview, and last month Catherine was pictured in October with her band in place, suggesting a permanent reconciliation seems likely. The silver screen pair, who tied the knot in New York in 2000, have endured a turbulent few years with Michael's cancer battle and Catherine's struggles with bipolar disorder.
Basic Instinct actor Michael was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 while Welsh actress Catherine has suffered with bipolar II disorder for some time. She received treatment for the disorder in Summer 2013.
