Justin Bieber arrested for DUI

Justin Bieber has been arrested for driving under the influence and drag racing in Miami.Miami Beach Police tweeted confirmation of the news, stating "#BreakingNews confirming @justinbieber has been arrested for DUI & Drag Racing more info & press release coming. "An hour later the Twitter account added that singer Khalil had also been arrested for drag racing.

The All That Matters singer was reportedly driving a rented Lamborghini when he was pulled over by police on Thursday morning.Justin and Khalil, who are both 19, are now said to be in custody and a police statement is due imminently.

Speaking at a press conference, Miami Beach Chief of Police Raymond A Martinez said that Justin resisted arrest although "without violence".

"He did acknowledge that he did take a prescription medication," he added. "That he had been smoking marijuana and that he did consume a beer".

Justin was arrested at 4.09am local time after police saw that cars had been used to block off a Pine Tree Drive at 26th Street, down which two cars racing.

According to Mr Martinez the cars were "estimated to be going anywhere up to 55 to 60 miles an hour.

"Appearing in court, the popstar's bail was reportedly set at £1,500. According to arrest reports, the singer was not co-operative during his arrest and was also charged for having an expired license. Justin has been in Florida for the past few weeks and has been keeping his fans updated on Twitter and Instagram.

News of Justin's brush with the law comes a week after his home was searched by police following allegations that he threw eggs at his neighbour's home in Calabasas, LA.

The Canadian singer posted several videos of himself playing basketball and skateboarding with friends the day before his arrest.
