Hollywood heavyweights including newly-engaged Johnny Depp, Sean Penn and Tom Hanks joined some of the biggest names in music on Monday night at special tribute concert to the Beatles in LA.Johnny, who attended without his fiancée Amber Herd, was on presenting duty at the event, which marked 50 years since the iconic band appeared on the New York based Ed Sullivan Show.

The TV gig was their first US appearance, and is widely noted as one of the memorable moments of their career and the start of the British invasion of America which happened in the 1960s.
A myriad of music stars took part in the special The Night That Changed America event, which was billed as a Grammy Salute To The Beatles. Among them was Katy Perry, who took to the stage with an acoustic band to perform.

The Firework singer forewent her usual revealing outfits for a demure, floor-length satin dress complete with cape. She was joined at the event by her other half John Mayer, who also did a turn at the gig - a duet with Nicole Kidman's husband Keith Urban.Other musical performers included Annie Lennox, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and Pharrell Williams - who wore the same hat as he had at the Grammy Awards the previous evening.
Pharrell sang with accompaniment from performers from the Cirque Du Soleil show Love, which is set to Beatles songs.

And the Los Angeles Convention Centre concert wouldn't have been complete without a performance from the two surviving members of the band, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.It was the second duet in as many days for the pair, who had played Paul's song Queenie Eye the previous evening at the Grammys. That performance marked the first time they had teamed up in five years.
The concert will air in the US on 9 February - exactly 50 years to the day since the Ed Sullivan show appearance.
