Bruce Jenner has been undergoing a physical transformation of late. Earlier this week, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star stepped out with new ombre highlights, following reports he underwent surgery to decrease the size of his adam’s apple.
The changes have sparked intense speculation as to the motivation behind his new look. Now, insiders have revealed that his new-found freedom since splitting from Kris Jenner, and his desire to look youthful, triggered the transformation.
"He totally has this 'I may be an old man, but I'm cool and young too' syndrome," a source told People.
"Everything in the end of his marriage just became too much for him, and his freedom is really liberating," a family friend added of the 64-year-old, who announced his separation from his wife of 22 years last October. "He wanted to grow his hair long, so he did it. He wants to get manicures, so he gets them.
"People in the family have brought up his hair or his clothes, whatever it is, and how absurd they think it is, but Bruce doesn't care, nor does he want to listen to any kind of criticism. "He thinks he looks great and cool and that's that. But at the end of the day, however ridiculous people may think he looks, he's happy about it – or at least trying to find out what he’s happy with - so you can't really blame the guy for that."
Since leaving the Calabasas home he shared with Kris, 58, and their two daughters, Kendall, 18, and 16-year-old Kylie, Bruce now lives alone in Malibu, near to his sons Brody, 30, and Brandon, 32.
