Chris Tarrant was rushed to hospital on Saturday night after suffering an asthma attack on a flight from Thailand to the UK. The former radio host and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter was travelling from Bangkok to Heathrow when he began to feel ill and told the plane's crew that he would need an ambulance upon his arrival in the capital. The 67-year-old father-of-four was met by emergency services on the runway and immediately taken to Charing Cross Hospital in central London.

Chris' manager Paul Vaughan said that the presenter has long suffered with his asthma. "I’ve been his manager for 30 years, and I know that if he goes down like a ton of bricks it’s usually asthma," said Paul, who added that Chris had sounded "very tired" when he had spoken to him at the hospital. "I’m surmising," said Paul. "But I think his asthma attack might have been triggered by a night-time stopover in Bangkok, which has very poor air quality. "A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed that they had been called to take a man from the airport to the hospital "as a priority".Chris, who presented Who Wants To Be A Millionaire for 15 years, had been filming in Burma for a new travel series which is due to air last this year.
