HELLO! Exclusive: Julia Bradbury says 'goodbye' to Countryfile and 'hello' to new ITV series

March 4, 2014

Julia Bradbury is leaving Countryfile to present a new series that will be screened on ITV, she exclusively revealed in HELLO! As she waved goodbye at the end of her last programme, little did viewers know that the TV presenter had said her final farewell to the popular programme which she has co-presented for almost five years. "It's been fantastic, an amazing show to be part of, so it was an immensely difficult decision," she told HELLO! "There were some feelings of sadness but also some really happy memories."

The new, five-part ITV series, which will celebrate everything that's great about Britain from its landscape to architecture was, says Julia, "something I couldn’t afford to turn down at this stage in my life and career. I've been heavily in the development of this one, so it's very close to my heart."

Affectionately known as the "walking man's crumpet," Julia, 43, who has a two-and-a-half-year old son Zeph with her partner Gerard Cunningham, says she feels no pressure to look younger. “I go camping on screen and wake up at 6am and people see me peering out of a sleeping bag wearing a beanie, so it’s not about looking glamorous and young.”See the full interview in HELLO! out now.
