Brittany Daniel has been bravely battling cancer behind closed doors.The Game actress, who starred with her twin sister Cynthia in the 90s teen drama Sweet Valley High, decided to go a see a doctor after experiencing excruciating back pain, night sweats and flu-like symptoms. It was then that she received the devastating news that she had stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
"It happened so suddenly," the 38-year-old told People.Almost immediately after her diagnosis Brittany started chemotherapy, and during her recovery she and her mum moved in with Cynthia. "There is no way I would have ever gotten through this without my family," the star admitted. "My family is everything to me and I feel like they saw me through this."
In particular, her bond with her twin sister gave her the strength to fight like a "warrior"."I really wasn't afraid of dying," Brittany, who lost her hair during six months of chemotherapy, told the magazine. "But I fought so hard because I could not leave her behind. "The actress initially only told close family and friends of her diagnosis. But, now healthy and cancer-free, she has decided to share her story to help others experiencing a similar situation.
"I want to let people know it is absolutely possible to get through something like this," she said. "I want people to know they are not alone."
