Cameron Diaz has spoken out about her longtime friend Gwyneth Paltrow's split from husband Chris Martin, saying the couple have made the right decision.
"For both Chris and Gwyneth, I mean they worked really hard," she told E! News while attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week. "People want them to blow up and it to be ugly, but they're kind, generous, loving people who really care about one another.
Cameron and Gwyneth have been good friends for years
"Just because they don't want to be a couple together, doesn't mean that they have to hate one another. They are really good friends.
"Cameron, 41, added, "They've made a conscious effort to separate the part of the lives they don't want to live anymore, and maintain a really beautiful, strong bond as parents and as friends…
"I think people should really honour that and they should admire it and they should respect it. They've done something really extraordinary, and they've been very brave at presenting that to the public."
Cameron says Gwyneth is doing great following the announcement of her split from Chris Martin
Of her friend Gwyneth, she said, "She's doing great. They're doing great.
"Cameron's words of support came two days after Coldplay star Chris, 37, and Gwyneth, 41, announced the end of their ten year marriage in a statement titled Conscious Uncoupling.
"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate," wrote the couple, parents to daughter Apple and son Moses.
"We have been working hard for over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.
Earlier this week Chris and Gwyneth announced their were 'conciously uncoupling'
"We are, however, and always will be a family and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been," they added. "We are parents first and foremost to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
"We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."
