Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright has hit back at claims he looked rather silly on Tuesday, after seemingly accidentally revealing his phone number to over 2.34million people on Twitter.
The reality star tweeted on the morning of April Fools' a message that looked as though it was meant to be a private direct message on the microblogging website, getting followers in a fluster about what to do with their newfound contact information. But when media started to report the apparent slip up, Mark defended himself and let fans know they had simply fallen for his practical joke.
“Just heard you on the radio saying you April fooled me !! You never !! I April fooled you for believing me haha @LucyHorobin @jkjasonking,” he told the presenters.
He had been enjoying seeing how well his trick was going when he listened to Heart FM earlier.
Making sure to get the media’s attention so they would check his Twitter profile, he wrote: “Loving listening to @jkjasonking and @LucyHorobin on @thisisheart this morning. Doing it live from the tube !! #mad #ratheryouthanme.”
In his hoax Mark told a pal to get in touch and when fans called the number dedicated to his prank, they got a message from the man himself, pretending to be his personal line. “Yer ok mate give me a call when you are around. You had to DM me because I changed my number haha here it is 07745 201 525 @JohnElmes,” the funny joke began.
Mark’s joke went according to plan as admirers began to call the mobile.“Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now. Leave me a message and I’ll call you WRIGHT back!” the voicemail said.
TOWIE’s network ITV2 has also gone ahead with tricking fans it appears. They shared a video of stars mocking the likes of Sloane Street locals Made In Chelsea in what they claim is forthcoming spinoff titled The Sloaney Way Is Essex.
