Lindsay Lohan panicked at the thought of getting straight back to work following a stint in rehab.

The 27-year-old actress is the star of a new docu-series by Oprah Winfrey which follows her journey back onto a clean path. The Mean Girls star confessed in a new episode of Alan Carr: Chatty Man, airing Friday night, that going from therapy last year to doing a new programme was rather brave of her.

"I did when I first started," she told the host about whether she felt she had risked delving into work too soon. "I did think that for a minute as I kind of panicked and thought, wait, I need a few minutes by myself as it was overwhelming. But it was good for me to be on a schedule and having to be diligent and showing up and present and on time."

Lindsay admitted that the reality show wasn’t what it seemed from the outset and she had to get used to the constant attention. During the show where she pole danced with Alan, Lindsay shared her fears with the audience.

"But at first, yeah, it was really scary. I didn’t realise it was going to be how it was either, I’d never done something like that. Camera’s around constantly," she added.

Lindsay has been to rehab several times in the past to battle her demons however it hasn’t worked for her. This time around she believes it took a lot of getting to know her spiritual side to recover.

"It involved a lot more meditation and spiritual work and that’s what I needed. And it wasn’t like that is what you need to do now do it, it was like I found something that worked for me," she continued. "You know you have to find your own [path] in life in general and I think that’s why. I enjoyed it and got something out of it."

When asked how long it had been since she had an alcoholic beverage, the flame-haired star shared that it must’ve been a very long time ago as she couldn’t remember.

"I don’t know. A long amount of time," she replied. "I mean there was a point on the show when I was in a relationship with someone and I like had a drink and I freaked out and didn’t want to say anything on the show as I didn’t know how that would come across and I was just scared."

And that’s when it kind of hit home that I was doing a docu-series, and I was like you know what, I’m honest and I’m open and I’ve never really hid anything, unfortunately there are some things I would’ve like to have kept hidden have been out there.

"But it felt good to put something out there that people could possibly relate to. And that’s why I was happy to have this docu-series as it could help people."
