Drew Barrymore gave birth to her second baby Frankie less than three weeks ago, but the Hollywood star is already back to work. The 39-year-old actress appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show alongside her close friend and co-star Adam Sandler to promote the pair's latest film Blended, when she spoke about her sudden return.

"It feels like a miracle and it's also so awesome, I have to say," said Drew, of stepping out so soon after the birth. "First of all, I love this movie and I would never not show up for it, and I feel so good and happy. My kid is healthy. I have nothing to complain about. I'm so blessed." Drew also revealed that her eldest child — 20-month-old daughter Olive — had happily welcomed baby Frankie into the family. "She really gets that she has a sister and she says, 'Frankie, sister,'" said Drew. "She loves playing with her and she's not mad about it at all, yet. It's all positive at this moment."

Speaking about how she and her art consultant husband Will Kopelman had chosen the name Frankie, Drew explained, "It came to my husband and I about a few months before she was born and it was just sort of like, 'I think this is it,' and then we gave ourselves the room to change our minds but we never did. "Not the most interesting story," she said, to which funnywoman Ellen quipped, "No, it's really not."

"And my mother-in-law's maiden name is Franco and I love her so much so it reminds me of her as well," laughed Drew.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore star in Blended, their third film together

Blended is the third film that comedy duo Adam and Drew have worked together on, after previously starring in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. The idea to reunite on set came from Drew, who left it to the Big Daddy actor to find their next venture.

"The most fun thing about working with Adam is seeing how good he is to everybody," said Drew. "Like how happy the set environment is. He's a good human, he's got a good heart, he's a good dad, a good working partner to me, an amazing husband — he's just like a good person."

Adam, 47, joked that the best thing for him was "getting to make out with [Drew]." Blended will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 23 May.
