Dougie Poynter confirms his relationship with Ellie Goulding

Dougie Poynter has confirmed that he's dating singer Ellie Goulding.

After months of speculation that Dougie and Ellie were a couple, the 26-year-old McFly singer put an end to the rumours while speaking to Fearne Cotton during ITV2 documentary Fearne and McBusted.

"Yeah. All is good in that area," he shyly admitted when Fearne quizzed him on whether he was in a relationship with Burn singer Ellie, 27.

The musician added that he likes to keep his personal life out of the spotlight. So it comes as no surprise that Dougie has made no further comment about his relationship on Twitter and his girlfriend Ellie has remained equally silent on the subject.

Sources had been speculating since January that Ellie and Dougie were dating, although the rumours reached fever pitch this week when the couple stepped out together in Manchester.

The pair strolled hand-in-hand, with Ellie stopping to wrap her arms around Dougie's waist, as they went shopping in the city centre.

As well as confirming that he's loved-up with Ellie during the McBusted documentary, Dougie also spoke about his past issues with drugs.

The Essex-born musician credits his time in rehab for helping him turn his life around, calling the experience "life-changing".

"You don't even realise how bad it is until you stop," he said of his drug use.

"I don’t know how much worse it could have got and I don't want to know."

Dougie wasn't the only member of the McBusted family talking about overcoming addictions on the show.

Matt Willis' wife Emma spoke candidly about her husband's past problems.

With tears in her eyes, Emma spoke to Fearne her decision to stand by Matt when he sought help for his drug use so soon after the pair got together.

"He went to rehab when I'd known him for three months," said Emma, who has been married to Matt since 2008 and has two children with him, Isabelle, four, and Ace, two. "We hadn't known each other for very long and I was kind of in this whirlwind with him.

"You don't really think about it, then more time goes along and he went in again.

"This isn't a kid that needs a couple of weeks break, it's someone who genuinely has a problem," she added, trying hard not to cry.

"I'm not going to leave him because he has a problem. You stick together and get through it."
