Sir Tom Jones will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the music industry. The Welsh singer, 73, said that it was a "great honour" to receive the accolade, which will be given to him at the Silver Clef awards in London on 4 July. Funds raised at the Hilton Hotel ceremony will go to charity Nordoff Robbins, which provides music therapy for adults and children.

"I've seen firsthand the amazing results that the dedicated and skilful therapists get with children and adults — it's work that really makes a difference," said Sir Tom. "This is a wonderful and important charity, so to be recognised for my lifetime of work means a great deal." The What's New Pussycat? hit maker rose to fame in the 1960s, releasing popular tunes such as It's Not Unusual, Green, Green Grass of Home and Delilah. He scored his first UK number one in 1965 for It's Not Unusual and went on to sell more than 100 million records around the world throughout his career.

"Thank you to all at Nordoff Robbins for the award," said Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock in a statement. "It's an honour for us to be recognised by an organisation that brings so much joy to people's lives through music." Previously announced winners for this year include Pharrell Williams for the International Award, Paloma Faith for Best British Act, Gareth Malone for the Classical Award and Italian producer Giorgio Moroder for the Innovation Award.
