Dina Lohan received some stern words from a Long Island judge on Tuesday before he suspended her driver's license for a year.
Lindsay Lohan's mum appeared at Nassau District Court this week following her arrest last September for speeding and drunk driving. According to state police, her blood-alcohol was 0.20, which is more than two times the legal limit.
Dina's lawyer Mark Heller told the court that the arrest had been " an onerous ordeal" for his client. "The only person responsible for this onerous ordeal is Ms Lohan herself," Judge Andrew Engel replied. "Fortunately, you didn't kill anybody or kill yourself." Before dismissing Dina, 51, he ordered her to complete a drink-driving programme and attend a victim impact panel.
She was also ordered to pay $3,085 in fines and have a device installed in her car that will prevent ignition if she fails a breathalyser test. Dina's September arrest came shortly after her daughter Lindsay completed her sixth stint in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.
Dina entered a plea of not guilty in the weeks that followed, and her lawyer issued a statement referencing one of Lindsay's acting roles. "Dina Lohan is a good person. Her life has been dedicated to her four children. She has worked hard her entire life and she has been a 'Parent Trapped' with the entire world watching her in a fishbowl with murky water due to no fault of her own."
