Actor Tracy Morgan is in intensive care after being critically injured in a car crash in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police confirmed that 45-year-old Tracy's car was involved in the crash, in what they have described as a six-vehicle accident on the the New Jersey Turnpike, near Cranbury Township.
Tracy, who became a father for the fourth time in August 2013, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Centre in New Brunswick where a spokesperson said he is in a critical condition.
Tragically police said that a person sharing the same vehicle with Tracy was killed in the crash. Two tractor-trailers, a sports utility vehicle and two cars, along with Tracy's limo bus, were involved in the accident. Following news of Tracy's situation, numerous stars have sent their support to the actor. "Sending best thoughts to Tracy Morgan, injured in an auto accident last night," Tweeted actor Steve Martin.
"A real gentleman and hilariously funny."
New York-born Tracy rose to fame when he joined Saturday Night Live
in 1996 and was on the sketch-comedy programme for seven years before leaving in 2003 to star in his own show.
In 2006 he found a long-running role in NBC's hit show 30 Roc, which was created by Tina Fey. Tracy has three sons from his 23-year marriage to childhood sweetheart Sabrina and a daughter called Maven with model Megan Wollover.
