Tom Daley's boyfriend sends sweet message after World Series success

June 9, 2014

Tom Daley’s boyfriend Dustin Lance Black “screamed” during a work engagement when he heard about the swimmer’s recent success at the World Series. The writer, director and producer admitted that he reacted rather loudly while taking part in a question and answer session at the weekend, when he got news Tom had come second place competing in the men’s 10m platform.

Dustin’s Twitter announcement came as Olympian Tom achieved a personal best, and the British star’s American partner couldn’t help but reveal his love for him in front of more than 32,000 followers.

Tom’s silver medal saw him gain all 10 scores while in Mexico and the modest sportsman simply replied a coy “thanks” to his partner’s posting on the social networking website.

During the trip, Tom shared a snap of himself with fellow divers from Great Britain tucking into some pizza in the city of Monterrey. Thanking his coach Jane Figueiredo, Tom also wrote about how happy he was with the outcome and told his Instagram followers that his tough practice sessions were the reason behind him doing so well.

The 20-year-old was pipped to the post by China's Qiu Bo, who won with 583.95 compared to his 577.20 points. Britain came away proudly as Sarah Barrow finished sixth in the women's 10m platform. Jack Laugher got the bronze medal in the men's 3m springboard on Saturday. Tom made his first public appearance with his 39-year-old beau in April, after sharing that he was in fact gay, not bisexual as previously suggested. It was Tom's relationship with LGBT rights activist Lance that prompted him to come out in December 2013 via a YouTube video.
